Jeff Bzdelik and his Wake Forest Demon Deacons staff have added a quality lead guard for the future, with the commitment of 6-1 junior point Shelton Mitchell, our No.26 rated junior, from Waxhaw, NC Cuthbertson.

“Wake has been on me since day one,” Shelton Mitchell said. “It’s a great school, the coaches believe in me, it was just the right fit.”

Mitchell is the consummate point guard who looks to set up teammates and will run the show getting team into flow. He is an excellent passer with handle to go either way, then finish at rim or hit open man with pass. he has solid jumper from three to keep “D” off balance. He has great court vision and uses passes to move ball in transition. He makes others around him better, and will make Coach Bzdelik smile in the future. He should push for starting spot from day one,  when he hits floor at Wake!

He chose Wake Forest over offers from Missouri, Miami, Illinois, Tennessee, South Carolina and Clemson.
