North Carolina adds No.33 rated Center
The North Carolina Tarheels take over top spot in ACC recruitng and move to the No.9 spot nationally with the addition of 6-9 center Kennedy meeks. He made his announcement on ESPNU Friday:
“I will be playing my college basketball at North Carolina,” Kennedy Meeks announced on EXPNU. “Coach Williams is a humble man and motivates me. The fans and atmosphere is great and they have a history of success.”
Plus its close to home and he is just what the Tarheels need, a true post presence who can board, score and control space on the blocks or in the paint. The physical 275-pounder has an excellent set of hands and will team with current freshman Joell James to form a formidable low post duo.
Meeks adds another dimension for the Tarheels in the post as he is an excellent paser who sees open man, as well as any big man in the class. If he gets doubled on low post he will make defenders pay by getting the rock to open teammates. Something that his fellow Tarheels and Roy Williams are going to like about their future big man. Plus opponents can’t sleep on him on face-up as he can knock down the 15-17 footer too!
He chose North Carolina over Georgetown.
He joins 6-9 face-up four man Isaiah Hicks and 6-2 combo guard Nate Britt in the highly ranked North Carolina Tarheels Class of 2013.
