N.C. State Wolfpack adds No.43 rated big man
Mark Gottfried and his NC State Wolfpack staff move into the number two spot in the ACC behind North Carolina and No.11 nationally with the addition of our N0.43 rated senior BeeJay Anya from Hyattsville, MD DeMatha.
He will give the Wolfpack a true inside offensive threat, he averaged 15 points and 11 boards last winter, as this physical 245-pounder can flat out catch it in traffic, and turn and finish with contact in the paint. He has good feet and can flat out horse it to the rim, something that the Pack hasn’t had since J.J. Hickson left the program for the NBA.
He is a solid low block defender, especially straight up, where his strength and long arms give him a real advantage at the high school level. He has good bounce and timing on the shot block (averaged 6 a game as junior) too. If he continues to develop tools under Gottfried he can give Wolfpack a strong presence on both ends for the next three or four years.
He chose N.C. State over Indiana, Ohio State, Georgetown, and Pittsburgh.
He joins 6-1 Anthony Barber and 6-9 Kyle Washington in the N.C. State Wolfpack Class of 2013
