Miami Recruiting Notes 1-15
Miami Recruiting Notes 1-15
–Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will be out at Marin Catholic (Kentfield, Calif.) tomorrow to check up on 2014 quarterback Morgan Mahalak. I’m sure the Mahalak’s have questions after hearing the news of fellow junior quarterback Quinton Flowers receiving an offer. Coach Fisch has spent a lot of time recruiting Mahalak and unless he is the only coach in America with free time on his hands, the interest level is high. In fact, it’s pretty high on both sides. Mahalak loves Coach Fisch and thinks he’s the best coach he’s ever met.
–Tim Williams (University School/Baton Rouge, La.) committed to Alabama on his official visit last Saturday. He was considering Miami, Florida State, LSU and Florida. While the Canes were in good shape with him, the Alabama offer was too hard to turn down. He will not take any more visits and told me that, “I’m locked in (to Alabama).”
–Class of 2014 offensive lineman Reilly Gibbons told me he was at Miami’s Junior Day last Sunday. The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Catholic product already holds offers from some of the top programs in the nation including Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He is still going through the process and the Miami coaches will have to flex their Tampa-St. Pete muscle in order to land him. Time to call in Anthony Chickillo and Earl Moore.
–While Miami’s Junior Day did go on for the majority of Sunday, there was also the Tom Lemming photo shoot taking place earlier that morning. Prospects such as Lamar Parker, Treon Harris, Nigel Patten and Jimmy Martin were all in attendance. Lemming releases a recruiting magazine every year that features the top football players in Florida.
–Orangewood Christian (Orlando, Fla.) linebacker Jimmy Martin attended Miami’s Junior Day as well. What makes this interesting is that he’s only a sophomore. The Central Florida standout had a great time and told me he could see himself playing in Orange and Green. He’s from a small school, so he felt comfortable in that setting. Also, Martin was one of the few sophomores selected to be part of Tom Lemming’s photo shoot.

Is it 100 percent that we offered Quinton? If we did, what position will he play? No way he will play qb here
