Miami Out For Denver Kirkland
In a recent turn of events, four-star offensive tackle Denver Kirkland (6-5/335) found out today that the Miami Hurricanes no longer have a scholarship available for him. Kirkland’s stepfather, Shanton Crummie, informed XOFan/CaneInsider of the news earlier tonight. He said the explanation he’s receiving from the Miami coaching staff is that they over signed defensive lineman and therefore Kirkland’s scholarship was used up. This could have a negative impact on Miami’s recruitment of his teammate, five-star linebacker Matthew Thomas, as well as other Class of 2014 prospects from Booker T. Washington (Miami, Fla.).
Denver Kirkland’s step father tells me he will not be a Miami Hurricane. More on @CANEINSIDER soon. Choices now #FSU,#Arkansas & #OleMiss
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher visited Kirkland and has been recruiting him heavily. The Noles are in the lead at this point and he will make his college decision on National Signing Day. His finalists are Florida State, Arkansas and Ole Miss.
There were talks of grade concerns, however Booker T. Washington assistant coach Tim Harris, Jr. tweeted that wasn’t the case shortly after the “academic issues is the reason” topic began to spread.
I’ll just let it be known that Denver Kirkland had NO academic issue. So, can that rumor just go away?
In an obvious statement of emotions after getting his Miami offer pulled, Kirkland sent this message via Twitter.
