Recruiting has barely slowed down despite the passing of National Signing Day. The Miami coaching staff has been extending out offers, getting commitments and evaluating harder than ever. Read on to find out what happened in recruiting last week and prepare for this fast paced approach to continue.
–Class of 2014 quarterback Alin Edouard (Hialeah, Fla.) committed to Miami last Wednesday night and CaneInsider.com was there to bring you an exclusive interview. –The Class of 2013 received another boost with the commitment of athlete Corn Elder (5-11/170). He’s a two-sport athlete that plans to play both football and basketball when he gets to Miami.

–Sony Michel (5-11/195) is ranked in the top five nationally at the running back position. Rightfully so, he’s being recruited as a premier prospect. Colleges have been showing him a lot of interest and it will be a long wait until National Signing Day for fans. Read on as the Plantation (Fla.) –Miami (Fla.) Class of 2014 cornerback Nigel Patten (5-9/175) received an offer from the University of Miami. He is one of the top DBs for his class and is a true student of the game. His South Florida speed and great technique allows him to take on opponents that have a size advantage.

–Defensive back Michael Johnson (6-2/185) attended Miami’s latest Junior Day and is getting familiar with the coaching staff. The Champagnat Catholic standout doesn’t hold an offer yet from Miami, but is staying patient through the process and feels that UM will offer him soon.

–With change ups on Miami’s coaching staff, in particular the offensive coordinator job, Kentfield (Calif.) Marin Catholic pro-style quarterback Morgan Mahalak (6-3/190) was left with several questions. Recently, new Miami offensive coordinator James Coley reached out to the young talent to ease his mind and let him know that Miami is still interested.

–A new name popped up last week and CaneInsider was there with recruiting coverage to get the scoop. –Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons wide receiver George Rushing (6-1/180) has been picking up a lot of interest from colleges including Miami. He was at Miami’s Junior Day last Saturday and shortly afterwards, coach Brennan Carroll reached out to him.

–Hallandale (Fla.) high school is made up of a talented secondary including 2014 safety Jon Jackson (6-0/185). He recently attended Miami’s Junior Day which sparked an interest in the Canes.

–The Canes saw another member of the staff leave to the NFL, running backs coach Terry Richardson. That left a vacancy that Hurlie Brown was able to fill. Within two hours at his new position, he reached out to the nation’s top running back for the Class of 2015, Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek star Jacques Patrick.
