Cornerback Nigel Patten Attending Miami’s Junior Day
Booker T. Washington (Miami, Fla.) is known for the amount of talent on its football team. Tomorrow, the Tornadoes will have four recruits attending Junior Day at the University of Miami including cornerback Nigel Patten.
“I’m going to Junior Day this Sunday with Treon (Harris), Lamar (Parker) and Chad (Thomas),” Patten said. “Coach Barrow wrote me on Facebook and then Coach Ice told me that we needed to be at the school Sunday.”
Although he’s been to Miami’s campus before, he’s looking to develop a bond with the coaching staff.
“I’m looking to talk with the head coach, Al Golden, and speak with my recruiting coach Michael Barrow,” Patten said. “I want to build a relationship with them going into my senior year.”
The No. 1 sprinter in Dade County is now shifting gears to track season after posting a great performance in the Class 4A State Championship.
“I was selected to run Junior Nationals, so I don’t know how much time I will have this offseason,” Patten said. “After all of that, I plan on going to 7-on-7s to get my name out and showing I’m the best in the Class of 2014 coming into my senior year.”
When he makes his decision, he will be looking for a college that is comfortable, academics, track and how the coaches develop their players.
