2015 Cornerback Rashard Causey Interested In Miami
University School (Davie, Fla.) standout cornerback Rashard Causey is only a sophomore, but is already receiving interest from Division 1 programs. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back talked the latest with XOFan.com.
“I have to compete against Quincy Wilson and Wesley Smith (committed to Villanova), so it makes me try harder on the field,” Causey said. “I am more of an aggressive cornerback. I like to play Cover 2, Man and bully receivers.”
Causey, who claims to run a 4.42 forty-yard dash, grew up a Florida State fan. However, when he can’t make it to see the Noles play, he has no problem rooting for the Canes.
“The thing I like about Miami is I always go to their games and I feel like it’s a replacement for U-School,” Causey said. “Like how the coaches are and how they switch a lot of things up. My favorite team was FSU, but Miami is in my backyard and if I can’t go to the FSU game, I go to a Miami game. I could fit in as a replacement for Tracy Howard or even Deon Bush if I had to play safety. Me and Tracy are from the same area. He’s cool. It gives me motivation to be the No. 1 corner for 2015. He’s a cool dude. I work out with him sometimes doing footwork drills and he teaches me what he does in college.”
He is planning to attend the Al Golden Football Camp this summer to continue getting his name out there. So far, five schools are reaching out to him.
“I get letters from Oregon, FSU, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma,” Causey said. “That’s all I have so far. I have interest in all of them. LSU, their defense switches up and I like Tyrann Mathieu. I like his playing style and howhe makes big plays. I’m trying to go to their camp this year.”
