Baton Rouge (La.) University Laboratory School DE Tim Williams(6’4/230) performed well this past Friday at the Under Armour All-American Game. Although, team Nitro came up short to team Hightlight, Williams was able to make a difference in what was considered a defensive slug fest.

The stand out prospect had an amazing time playing against other elite players, and learned a lot at the Under Armour practices leading up to the game.

“Going up against some kids who are big, and just basically learning how to compete against guys that are bigger than me… Basically learning from different coaches.”

What did he learn from this experience?

“I really learned during the game though, I had did an outside rush and I blew right past him, and I was like aw man why wasn’t I doing that all week… So I was just learning as I was going on, just about my technique.”

With National Signing Day about a month away, Williams has put his focus on four schools in particular.

“I’m focusing on LSU, Miami, and Florida State right now, and Alabama.”

Over the last year or so, Williams has developed a relationship with current Miami commit TE Standish Dobard. Will his friendship with Dobard help Miami in any way when he decides which school to attend?

“He’s a guy from Louisiana, and if I decide to go up there, I just want to be with somebody who knows how we get down here in Louisiana… Me and Standish talk all the time, he’s a great guy and he always tells me you need to commit to Miami, we are going to be a dynasty.”

Dobard is also not the only Cane commit that is trying to sway Williams to join Miami, DB Artie Burns, and QB Kevin Olsen have also been in touch with him to try and get him to unite with them in South Florida.

While, he has named Miami as his top school through out the recruiting process, Florida State is a school to watch for as he has a good relationship with some of their current coaching staff.

Williams expects to take his official visit to Coral Gables on January, 18th. This will be his first time in Miami, but that does not mean that he will put his focus on what is outside of the football facilities.

“I just hope to see the coaching staff and the players. When I get down there I’m going to be spending the majority of my time with those guys, I’m not really worried too much about the outside part… I come from a laid back town, not really doing much.”

Coach Jethro Franklin is in charge of his recruitment, but  Al Golden is right there as well. Golden and him message each other almost everyday via Facebook.

“Coach Golden stands out to me because he is the only head coach that I really talk to(consistently), he don’t say he want me, he says he needs me.”

Williams also gave his take on the newest Miami commit DE Al-Quadin Muhammad

“For all this is just going to help the program, with him he probably be more the true defensive end, and I’ll be the hybrid.”
